SPECIAL INITIATIVE
We are pleased to be working with Urban Tails Animal Rescue (UTAR) on a very exciting and ongoing community-based program to provide much needed services to a remote northern Ontario community - Poplar Hill First Nation. This foster based registered charity is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in need through adoption, advocacy and community programs.
Overview:
This is a significant and unique project that has potential to span several years. The Rescue is planning repeated clinics in the community which will require flights into and back from CPV7 (Poplar Hill Airport) from potentially Winnipeg MB or Thunder Bay ON (note the veterinary team is based in Toronto, so all options are under consideration but it seems it may be best to stage from either of these suggested locations in terms of CWoR flights but all planning ideas welcomed).
The first event date is being planned for early June as a community clinic and will consist of a team of 4 Pax who will need to be in the community for 2-3 days (flexible weekday or weekend yet TBD). Therefore, we are scouting interest from any pilots that might consider being involved. We will be collecting interest and remain open to pilot suggestions and recommendations.
Pilots may choose to take an inbound or outbound leg AND for those interested to stay - accommodations/meals will be provided as well as the opportunity to volunteer as part of the in-community team if that is of interest. Given this is likely to be an ongoing initiative over several years, we are especially eager to find pilots that have an interest to participate when able on future flights. NOTE: participating pilots will be eligible for a partial fuel reimbursement to be paid to them (details are still to be confirmed but e.g. 50% fuel cost may be paid back to pilot and remaining portion of total operating costs would be receipted per normal CRA charitable donation requirements).
Requirements/Transport:
At this time it would seem 2 aircraft minimum for the 4 adults plus approx. 2 cases of equipment (weights/sizes TBD).
As several aircraft will be required considering back-ups/contingencies, future dates etc., please do not hesitate if you think you can assist in any way.
Departure Location: Tentatively Winnipeg or Thunder Bay (airports TBC) or possible Toronto area
Arrival Destination: CPV7 (Poplar Hill ON)
Dates: Early June 2024 with drop-offs and return over 2-3 day period (with subsequent future opportunities that will be planned in advance (2024-2027)
