Here is the start of a checklist of things you may want to have on board before starting a transport.

Cleaning Materials:
Saniquat spray to kill all viruses or disease is essential, especially if you have pets of your own. We don't want anything nasty being transferred between pets so keeping crates clean between each use is important and bleach does not kill all viruses that animals can produce. Saniquat is used in many animal shelters, veterinarians and human hospitals because of its effectiveness. It is a strong cleaning agent so please follow the instructions on the bottle for its use.

Absorbent materials like towels or small blankets are the best to have for the bottoms of the crates to absorb any accidents as well as keep the animals comfortable during transport. They also can be stored in garbage bags ready for use or laundering.

Large garbage bags for any soiled towels or other materials. Paper towels for quick pick up.

Air Freshener - you will be glad you have it if an animal has an accident during flight - after all you can't exactly crack a window open mid flight, right.

A slip leash to add extra security when an animal is out of its crate. Collars and leashes can slip, break, or come undone at the worst moments of a transfer. Having a slip leash minimizes the risk of setting an animal free on a run way. They should not be used for any long term wear however as they do not have an easy release around the animals neck, nor should they be left on an animal when not being handled or supervised. I recommend that they are to be only used for temporary purposes during the actual transfer from person or car to crate or to plane.
