Canadian Wings of Rescue is a 100% volunteer run federally registered charity organization dedicated to transporting animals within Canada. Our purpose is to work with Canadian rescue groups, shelters, and/or wildlife rehabilitation centres when they are faced with a transportation need. We arrange free, short domestic flights via our dedicated volunteer pilots wherever possible.
Transports help abused, abandoned and injured animals and help animals get to fosters, adopters, rehabilitation centres or other not-for-profit organizations.
Registered charity #808636088RR0001

We have flown many companion animals from shelters to rescues and forever homes across the country.
Thanks to continued support, injured wildlife benefit from the expertise of far away rehabilitation groups.
Donations can be made to Canadian Wings of Rescue through Canada Helps at www.canadahelps.org
We’re still squeezing in a few more transports in 2025!
A sandhill crane found near Sault Ste. Marie was cared for by a local community member, who lovingly named him “Sugar,” while they searched for help. At roughly nine months old and orphaned, he needed to head south for rehab to survive the winter.
This weekend, volunteer pilot Gerd W. met Sugar in Sault Ste. Marie and flew him to Muskoka Airport, where @WoodlandsWildlifeSanctuary picked him up for transfer to Minden, Ontario.
At this time of year, challenging weather conditions are expected. Gerd navigated tight weather windows over several days, saving the team a drive of over 12 hours. Safety, planning, and partnership made it possible.
Thank you to Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary, the individual who cared for Sugar, and Gerd for seeing this through. This is public-benefit flying in action!

Calling all wildlife organizations! It`s never too early to begin thinking about your busy spring seasons.
This year alone, our volunteer pilots helped transport a turkey vulture, countless owls, a swan, hawks, eagles, a turtle, and a crane. In past seasons, even a coyote and a bear cub. We coordinate no-cost, short-haul flights that reduce stress and speed up transfers between rehab centres, vets, and release sites.
How it works: you request a transport; we reach out to our network of volunteer pilots; together we confirm the safest plan.
What helps us help you:
-Species and crate dimensions
-Origin, destination, and target timing
-Handling notes (quiet loading areas, temperature needs, etc.)

We`re thrilled to welcome DMRS/Lower Mainland Humane Society to our rescue family @dmrs.lowermainlandhumane !
In our two recent transports, they stepped up when Hand & Cash, and Lola & Millie needed them most. These four sweet pups are now safe and thriving because when rescues work together, miracles happen.
Here`s to many more flights and saved lives together! Thank you @dmrs.lowermainlandhumane for spreading your wings with us.

Thanks to our volunteer pilot Walter, Gambit the swan safely made its way to @WildlifeRescueBC. 💙
After arrival at their facilities, the rescue’s team identified Gambit specifically as a Tundra Swan — a species of special concern in BC.
Unfortunately, the bird has several injuries consistent with a hard impact, including swelling and bruising, difficulty walking, and signs of head trauma.
The good news: he is eating well and receiving pain management, antibiotics, and close monitoring.
While the prognosis remains uncertain, the care team is hopeful and will continue supporting Gambit as he rests and recovers.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Another 7 pups recently took a journey to Calgary thanks to volunteer pilot Ken who flew these pups to @calgaryanimalrescue, one of our trusted rescue partners in Alberta.
We partner with this incredible organization regularly to help transport animals from overcrowded shelters. They provide medical care, fostering, and adoption services across the Calgary area.
Thanks to Ken for getting these 7 there safely, and to Calgary Animal Rescue Society for taking them in. A huge shout out to all our volunteers behind the scenes who work tireless to coordinate logistics, ensure safety and prioritize care for every rescue transport.

Every animal deserves love, comfort, and a family to call their own. Today, on International Animal Rights Day, we`re celebrating with one from our summer transports - Bailey & Benny`s story! These wiggly pups flew from Manitoba to their forever homes thanks to @ChanceRescue613 and pilots @cessna_ag_pilot95 and Gerd.
Because every life matters, and every animal deserves to soar towards their new beginning!

If you’ve been with us since the launch of our organization, you’ve seen just how much we’ve grown.
But at our core, our purpose has never changed.
Frankie and Poppy`s story is one we’ll always hold close. In 2016, Pilots Dave and Matt flew the pair to their forever homes.
Nine years after her rescue flight, her adopter reached out with a comment that reminded us why our staff volunteers, volunteer pilots, and rescue and wildlife partners do what they do.
To our past and present pilots, and to every volunteer who has made a flight possible: thank you. Your impact lasts a lifetime.
