Thanks to our volunteer pilot Walter, Gambit the swan safely made its way to @WildlifeRescueBC. 💙

After arrival at their facilities, the rescue’s team identified Gambit specifically as a Tundra Swan — a species of special concern in BC.

Unfortunately, the bird has several injuries consistent with a hard impact, including swelling and bruising, difficulty walking, and signs of head trauma.

The good news: he is eating well and receiving pain management, antibiotics, and close monitoring.

While the prognosis remains uncertain, the care team is hopeful and will continue supporting Gambit as he rests and recovers.

Another 7 pups recently took a journey to Calgary thanks to volunteer pilot Ken who flew these pups to @calgaryanimalrescue, one of our trusted rescue partners in Alberta.

We partner with this incredible organization regularly to help transport animals from overcrowded shelters. They provide medical care, fostering, and adoption services across the Calgary area.

Frankie and Poppy`s story is one we’ll always hold close. In 2016, Pilots Dave and Matt flew the pair to their forever homes.

Nine years after her rescue flight, her adopter reached out with a comment that reminded us why our staff volunteers, volunteer pilots, and rescue and wildlife partners do what they do.

To our past and present pilots, and to every volunteer who has made a flight possible: thank you. Your impact lasts a lifetime.

Two gorgeous Greyhounds, Prince and Bailey, finally made it to their new foster families last month. 🐾

After weeks of searching for fosters and a safe transport option, our rescue partner Northwest Canadian Greyhound League (NCGL) @ncglcanada reached out to us to help the surrenders.

With few fosters available in their local area, the pair’s best shot at future forever homes was in Alberta.

Our long-time volunteer pilot @dr.campbell.vet.dentist stepped in to fly the boys from Boundary Bay, BC to Springbank, AB giving them the chance they needed.

It truly took a village and we can’t wait to hear more about Prince and Bailey’s new adventures soon! ...

Our volunteer pilot, Walter, recently took to the skies to fly two cats, adorably named Donnie and Marie, plus a litter of kittens from Northern B.C. to the Vancouver area.

If Walter looks familiar, that`s because he flew one of our most memorable transports of 19 cats (!) back in the summer.

So he’s no stranger to precious cargo, and this flight was another successful journey with our rescue partners @np_forgottenfelinessociety and @katiesplaceshelter

The route took them over the beautiful mountains over B.C, and all the cats arrived safely ready to live their best lives.

Thanks to Walter for stepping up once again, and to both rescue partners for trusting us with these little ones. Another litter saved! ...

Recently, six little pups took to the skies from Manitoba to the Ottawa region, where a brighter future awaits. Found in need of help, they`re now on their way to finding loving homes thanks to an incredible team effort.

Our volunteer pilot @Ori_Kaplan flew them to safety, delivering them to our wonderful rescue partner @chancesrescue613. This heartwarming mission was made possible by pilot Ori who generously donated flight time and fuel, our rescue partners @chancesrescue613 and Paws to the Rescue Manitoba, the kind soul who found them and reached out for help, and our dedicated transport coordinators who connected all the pieces.

Winter flying in small planes can be unpredictable. Fast-changing weather, shifting plans, and the need for quick decision-making.

That’s exactly what unfolded during Koda’s recent transport.

When @A_tail_to_tell reached out to get Koda, a 5-month-old husky/retriever mix, from Manitoba to B.C., we knew this would have to be a relay flight.

Our Canadian Wings of Rescue volunteer pilots, @Bradreid_btc, @btown.jd.bowen, and b.stib, stepped up. A special shout out to @cessna_ag_pilot95, who also originally volunteered — your willingness still made a difference.

The plan was simple: Bastien to Benton, Benton to Brad, and Brad to Koda’s new adoptive family.

But as conditions shifted, so did the plan. Benton traded his wings for wheels, driving Koda from Bastien’s landing point to Brad’s takeoff point. Bastien even found a friend to safely overnight foster Koda until the next morning. And Brad carried out the final leg, bringing this sweet boy home to his new family.

We could never have anticipated such flexibility, teamwork, and heart. This transport is a perfect example of the dedication and selflessness behind every animal we fly. ...
