Around here, we often say that you can get anywhere in a small plane if you can sit long enough.

That was definitely the case for our most recent transport!

Volunteer pilot, Archie, flew thousands of kilometres over two days, crossing three provinces to get Miley, Niamh, and Lily one step closer to their future homes.

The journey took them from Passion4Paws Rescue to @CalgaryAnimalRescue Society, where they’ll have the chance to find the loving families they deserve.

A huge thank you to our partners at @BrandonFlightCentre and @YBWTower for their support. And a huge thank you to the foster families who cared for them along the way.

Finally, shoutout to Archie, a veteran volunteer pilot who has flown dogs all across Western Canada, for making this flight possible.

Around here, we often say that you can get anywhere in a small plane if you can sit long enough.

This time…an orphaned baby owl.

Found alone in the Sudbury, ON area back in 2024, this tiny raptor needed specialized care quickly.

Our volunteer network sprang into action and organized a flight the very next day to get the little one safely to the experts at @theowlfoundation

With their help, this young owl had the chance to grow stronger.

A huge thank you to volunteer pilot Greg C. for making the mission possible, and to our long-time partners at The Owl Foundation for giving injured and orphaned owls a second chance.

Last Spring, our “crate passenger” wasn’t a pet. It was an injured eagle transported by pilot @tangotangomango

A few quick eagle facts, and why wildlife transports are handled differently.

Eagles have incredibly sharp eyesight, so we keep things calm and controlled to reduce stress.

Their wings and feathers are powerful but delicate in tight spaces, which is why secure containment matters.

Loud noise and busy movement can be overwhelming for wild birds, so smooth handoffs and minimal handling are key.

And we don’t do this alone. We rely on the expertise of our rescue partners like @theowlfoundation, along with volunteer animal welfare specialists, to help ensure each animal is handled with care from pickup to handoff to arrival.
