Shadow the Coyote’s wild adventure!

At Canadian Wings of Rescue, we’re all about saving lives—whether they’re pets or wild critters. Recently, we completed a super cool mission that showcases our passion: we flew Shadow, a resilient coyote, back to her natural habitat. This isn’t just a rescue story; it’s about the crucial role coyotes play in our ecosystems. You can join our mission—whether by volunteering, donating, or sharing this story on social media. Let’s make a difference, one rescue at a time!

Coyotes: Nature’s Rockstars

Coyotes are like the unsung heroes of the animal kingdom. These clever canines help keep the balance in nature by controlling populations of smaller mammals like rodents and rabbits. Without them, these little critters could take over, upsetting the vegetation and overall ecosystem health. Coyotes are also top-notch recyclers, cleaning up the environment by munching on carrion.

But that’s not all! Coyotes are incredibly adaptable, thriving in all sorts of environments—from forests and grasslands to urban areas. Their presence signals a healthy ecosystem. Yet, they often get a bad rap and face risks from human-wildlife conflicts, which is why our rescue missions are so vital.

Shadow’s Epic Journey

Shadow’s road to recovery was no walk in the park. She was hit by a vehicle and could barely stand when she was admitted to Erie Wildlife Rescue. Thanks to their lifesaving care, she survived and was transferred to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre in Napanee, ON for the winter. Shadow made an amazing recovery and can now run like the wind!

Watching Shadow run free again is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do—it’s a win for Shadow and for nature.

Get Involved and Make a Difference

Shadow’s story is just one of many awesome rescues at Canadian Wings of Rescue. We’d love for you to join our mission—whether by volunteering, donating, or spreading the word. Together, we can ensure that every animal, wild or domestic, gets the care they deserve.

Stay tuned for more heartwarming stories and follow us on social media. Subscribe to our newsletter for updates and ways you can help.

What's YOUR story?

We believe behind every donation is a person with a reason to care. We're passionate about our vision and are incredibly proud about the community who supports that with us. All animals deserve a safe journey to find the home they deserve, and we cannot be more than grateful that our wonderful donators want to help that. Even if you're not a pilot, your donations give us the legroom we need to support our rescues.

We want to ask our donators, what inspired you to support us? Was there a moment that made you think "I need to help?" What is your story?

Share in the comments down below! We would love to hear the voices that support us everyday. 💙

In our latest blog post, go behind the scenes of a real Canadian Wings of Rescue flight and see what it takes to make these transports happen.

SPOILER ALERT: It takes a huge group of passionate people who prioritize respecting, supporting, and caring for animals.

In this story, you'll follow the journey of two golden retrievers, Max and Maple from @goldenrescuecanada, as they fly toward their chance at forever homes.

From flight planning to navigating tricky weather conditions (and managing two non-stop wagging tails), it’s all in a day’s work for our volunteers.
