A Happy Update: Lizzi, Now Karma, Is Thriving in Canada
When we fly animals to safety, we always wonder what happens next. Every now and then, we get the answer and it makes all the miles flown worthwhile!

From a stray in Mexico to a loving family in Calgary
In September 2023, Canadian Wings of Rescue partnered with Wet Noses Rescue on one of our first transports together.
The dog was Lizzi, a stray from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Wet Noses Rescue took her in, provided rehabilitation and medical care, and got her into Vancouver, BC. Once there, Canadian Wings of Rescue coordinated the flight, piloted by long-time volunteer, Mike G., that would take her on the final leg of her journey to her forever home in Calgary.
Lizzi was welcomed by her adopters, Shae and her partner Ray when she arrived.
Check out this incredible video, produced by Mike, about the transport.

Three Years Later
Recently, Shae reached out to us with an update — and new photos — showing just how well Karma is doing. ” She is such a happy and healthy girl and genuinely the best dog ever. We lucked out for sure, and can’t thank you enough for getting her to us!”
A Partnership That Keeps Growing
Lizzi’s transport was also significant for another reason: it was the first time Canadian Wings of Rescue worked with Wet Noses Rescue. What began as a single rescue flight has grown into an ongoing partnership, and three years later Wet Noses Rescue has become one of our most active rescue partners.
Together, we’ve been able to help many more animals make the same journey from uncertainty to safety and from rescue to home.
