Veterinary dentist by day, Pilot on weekends & Hero to animals!

At Canadian Wings of Rescue, we’re deeply grateful for the dedication and compassion of our network of volunteer pilots. These incredible individuals use their skills and aircraft to rescue injured, abused, and displaced animals, providing them with a chance at a better life. Today, we want to shine a spotlight on one of our standout volunteers, Dr. Robert Campbell, who has been a part of our mission for the past year.

Dr. Robert Campbell in action.

Robert is not just any pilot—he’s a multifaceted hero. Based in Calgary, Alberta, with CYBW (also known as Springbank) as his home airport, Robert combines his flying expertise with his profession as a veterinary dentist & oral surgeon. His unique skill set is a perfect match for our organization, as he brings a deep understanding of animal care to every rescue mission he undertakes. Robert’s dual roles underscore his commitment to animal welfare, making him an invaluable asset to our team.

One of Robert’s favorite routes is from Springbank, Calgary (CYBW) to Campbell River, BC (CYBL). He relishes the breathtaking views of mountains and ocean, which he describes as “spectacular every single time.” This enthusiasm for flying mirrors his passion for helping animals, as each flight brings hope and healing to those in need.

Robert has volunteered to fly a husky pup, kittens, basset hound in his spare time and we’re so grateful to call him a member of the CWoR team.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Robert and all our dedicated volunteer pilots who make our mission possible. Their passion and commitment are essential to rescuing and caring for countless animals.

We invite you to join us in supporting these extraordinary efforts. You donations can help us offset the costs our volunteer pilots incur, provide food and safe transport carriers for animals and so much more. Together, we can ensure that every animal gets the chance they deserve.

Thank you for your generosity and support.

We’re grateful to every one of our volunteer pilots, past and present, who make lifesaving animal transports possible.

Animals like Zara, a rescued basset hound, got a second chance thanks to pilots like @dr.campbell.vet.dentist, who donate their time and skills to help animals in need.

While our pilots volunteer their aircraft and time, transports may still come with costs, due to things like unexpected weather delays or landing fees. Your donations help keep dogs, cats, owls, falcons, and even a wolf (really!) safely in the air with Canadian Wings of Rescue.

When an injured bald eagle needed urgent help, volunteers stepped up, and fast.

From Thunder Bay to Southern Ontario, this rescue transport was a powerful display of compassion, coordination, and care. It took a late-night landing, an overnight foster and a team of volunteers united by one mission: care.
