Wings of Compassion: Spreading Awareness at Boundary Bay Airshow

Connecting with the aviation community is one of the Canadian Wings of Rescue’s (CWoR) top priorities. Our pilots are the backbone of our organization so we look for every opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by animals and communities in accessing the care they need.

“As a 100 percent volunteer organization, it’s important that we stay connected to established private pilots and the next generation of aviators,” said Chirag Chopra, CWoR board member. “That’s why we were thrilled to be a part of the annual Boundary Bay airshow this year, sharing our purpose with hundreds of attendees.”

The sun was shining brightly over Boundary Bay airport mid-July, as aviation enthusiasts from all over gathered for the annual airshow. Amid the excitement of thrilling aerobatic displays and a stunning display of vintage aircraft and cars, CWoR volunteers were spreading awareness about its vision to create a future where all animals have access to transport affording them the health, home and hope they deserve.

This event provided an excellent opportunity to interact with the aviation community in particular and discuss with them about combining their passion for flying with our mission of animal rescue.

“Many private pilots give back to their communities through public benefit flying, and the airshow helped us showcase how CWoR offers a rewarding avenue for that passion,” said Chopra, who attended the event. “The passion and enthusiasm private pilots have for their vocation is inspiring. The Boundary Bay Airshow played a pivotal role in educating the public and the aviation community in the Vancouver area about the vital work that CWoR is doing and how, as volunteers, they can help us accomplish so much more.”

The Airshow was a success in enlisting support for CWoR’s cause, but our mission is far from over. Join us in making a difference. Whether you’re a registered Canadian  animal welfare organization, a pilot interested in flying with us, or someone interested in volunteering with us please get in touch with us!

Together, we can ensure that every animal, no matter where they are, receives the care they deserve. Visit our website to learn more about our mission, volunteer opportunities, and how you can help spread the word.

Let’s continue to soar high and make a lasting impact, one flight at a time.

What's YOUR story?

We believe behind every donation is a person with a reason to care. We're passionate about our vision and are incredibly proud about the community who supports that with us. All animals deserve a safe journey to find the home they deserve, and we cannot be more than grateful that our wonderful donators want to help that. Even if you're not a pilot, your donations give us the legroom we need to support our rescues.

We want to ask our donators, what inspired you to support us? Was there a moment that made you think "I need to help?" What is your story?

Share in the comments down below! We would love to hear the voices that support us everyday. 💙

In our latest blog post, go behind the scenes of a real Canadian Wings of Rescue flight and see what it takes to make these transports happen.

SPOILER ALERT: It takes a huge group of passionate people who prioritize respecting, supporting, and caring for animals.

In this story, you'll follow the journey of two golden retrievers, Max and Maple from @goldenrescuecanada, as they fly toward their chance at forever homes.

From flight planning to navigating tricky weather conditions (and managing two non-stop wagging tails), it’s all in a day’s work for our volunteers.

We’d like to give a big THANK YOU to our donors! 💙

Not a pilot? No problem. You can still help us fly.

Some of our biggest heroes are those who choose to support us in other powerful ways like setting up a one-time or recurring donation.

Your gifts help fuel rescue transports, like Benny & Bailey's, care for animals, and bring them safely home.

All donations over $25 come with a tax receipt, and every bit makes a difference.

You make our work possible, month after month and we’re so grateful. Click the link in our bio to support us!
